My turn :)

Happy New Year!!!! today we had chinese happy new year dinner (which is a bit confusing because thats a few weeks away yet!), we were in KL for Islamic New Year and I haven 't seen most of you since our new year so hope you all are in good form!

So far so good on the trip. The rain has finally stopped, not for long I think and I only have 6 (although they are huge) mosquito bites, oucharama, the mosqituos don't like Brian and haven't bitten him yet!! So I am trying all the remedies - inspect spray, vitamen B and gin and tonics - trying these remedies on myself and not Brian!!

I know this next paragraph will make those in lovely wet ireland seeth, we spent today on tropical islands, trekking through the jungle; saw a huge lizard there, then relaxing on the beach in the basking sun looking at all the other tropical islands till our speedboat picked us and Michelle from our hostel to go to the next island. Bliss!! Brian will upload photos soon to make ye even more jealous.

Yesterday, we went to a water village with Michelle and Kim, where wooden houses are built on stilts at the edge of the jungle on the water. The locals in the village we visited Penambawang, were lovely, we even played tabletennis in the floating community centre!!
All the locals are great here, Brian and Michelle both joined in on a tug of war on one of today's islands.

We're heading west of Kota Kinabulu tomorrow for jungle, mountain climbing (eekk!) and hopefully will spot some Orangatangs so probably won't be online to blog for a few days but take care and hope the rain stops soon and munster win!!!

So so green with envy, sounds amazing. Raining here as usual, can't believe I'd 3 full weeks of blue skies and no rain in Nepal, it didn't seem like christmas. Anyway, have a FANTASTIC time, so jealous, will be in touch.
Oh & about the insect bites, only piece of advice for u...keep plastering on the DEET 50 insect repellent and NO DEODRANT, apparently insects love nice, clean fragrances like deodrant and avoid horrible smells, thats why Jeanette's getting bitten NOT Brian.

Yip Aine's right, DEET is your man but be carefull it will strip the print of anything plastic and corrode metal. head to toe clothing is another solution! only time socks with sandals are allowed!!!

well we didn't get the munster win but at least we got the bonus point!
keep up the great blogging ;-)

The Munster boys lost 26-19 to Clermont-Auvergne - however they got a bonus point and they're in with a great chance of qualifying out of the group. Playing Wasps in Thomond Park next Saturday - make or break - should be a cracker of a game!

Happy trails,
P :-)
